You can buy Standard first and upgrade on Steam

Steam lists a separate Transport Fever 3: Deluxe Upgrade that requires the base game. Standard gives you the full base game; Deluxe adds six vehicles, two landmarks, four animals, three maps, Tycoon Cars, three fun elements and franchise soundtracks. Buy Deluxe now if you want those extras and the current bundle price; start with Standard if you want to decide later.

At these observed US list prices, Standard plus a later separate upgrade costs $69.98, which is $4.99 more than the $64.99 bundle. Recheck your Steam cart: regional prices, discounts and bundle adjustments can change that comparison.

What is in the Deluxe Upgrade?

The Steam DLC listing names six vehicles: Concorde, London Bus, Trans-Europe Express, Peterbilt 359, Hong Kong Tram and Sikorsky S-76. It also lists Eiffel Tower and Taj Mahal landmarks; orca, Komodo dragon, boar and bison wildlife; Redrock Bends, Northern Gates and Emerald Shores maps; Tycoon Cars, three fun elements and franchise soundtracks.

The store describes these as extras added to the base game. It does not say you need Deluxe to use the ordinary cargo, passenger, rail, city or campaign systems covered by this guide.

How to decide or upgrade

  1. Choose based on extras, not the base-game rules. Read the item list above. If a named vehicle, map or landmark matters to you, compare the Deluxe bundle with Standard in your own Steam region.
  2. If you already own Standard on Steam, open the separate Deluxe Upgrade listing. Confirm the page says it requires Transport Fever 3, and confirm your account owns that base game before checkout. The DLC is not a standalone copy.
  3. Compare the live checkout totals. The observed US prices are a snapshot, not a price promise. Check discounts, tax and your currency before buying.
  4. After purchase, verify ownership in Steam. Check that Deluxe Upgrade appears among the base game's DLC or in your purchase history, then inspect one of the listed extras in the game. A successful payment alone does not tell you which Steam account or edition is active.

How to tell you made the right purchase

For Standard, Steam shows the base game in your library and you can play its ordinary modes. For Deluxe, Steam also shows the Deluxe Upgrade as owned DLC; check the listed extras in the game after installation. If you are still deciding, the upgrade's live store page remaining available means you can defer the extra purchase.

If the upgrade is not available

  • You do not own the base game on Steam: The Steam Deluxe Upgrade requires the Steam base game; buy the bundle or base game first.
  • You bought on another store or console: This page verifies the Steam PC offer only. Check that platform's own store for its upgrade path.
  • The price differs: Use your live regional Steam cart rather than the September 29 US snapshot.
