Trace and test the blocked stretch
- Follow one delayed vehicle. Select the bus or truck and watch where it first slows. Note the leading vehicle, the lane it follows and whether the queue begins on an open road, at a stop, or at a junction. A stop or blocked turn needs a different repair.
- Inspect the line path and lane connections. Open the affected line in Line Manager. Check whether the displayed path actually uses an available lane through the slow stretch and can rejoin before its next stop. More asphalt does not guarantee that the line chooses another lane.
- For buses, test a public-transport lane. TF3 supports configurable bus and tram lanes. On the obstructed part of a bus route, try giving public transport its own connected lane, then inspect the path again. A release-player discussion suggests this for buses trapped behind horse carts. Do not assume a freight truck may use the bus lane.
- Alternatively, test a lane waypoint. If the inner lane is continuous, select the affected line segment and hold Shift while clicking the intended lane in Line Manager. A player in the same discussion reports this lane-specific workaround; the waypoint guide explains the documented PC shortcut. Keep the waypoint only if the shown path and a complete vehicle trip use the intended road without missing a stop.
- Compare one run before and after. Watch the same section at the same simulation speed. If a bus uses the reserved or chosen lane and clears the slow vehicle, keep the smallest working change. If it still queues, restore the experiment before changing junction controls or the whole corridor.

Watch on YouTube ↗How to tell it worked
The line path uses the chosen connected lane, the affected vehicle passes the slow section, and it still reaches its next scheduled stop. Measure the same journey or contract again; a changed road shape alone is not success.
If it still follows the slow vehicle
- The bus cannot enter the chosen lane: inspect the lane's start, exit and junction permissions in the junction checklist; move or remove a waypoint that breaks the line.
- A truck is blocked: a bus lane is not a promised freight fix. Try a valid alternate line path and check whether a stop or turn is the real queue.
- The lane is usable, but passing remains inconsistent: players report both successful and failed overtakes on release. Record the save, road layout, vehicle types and game build when reporting it to official support. Do not keep widening solely on the assumption that another lane guarantees passing.
