What to do
- In Map Editor, choose the climate, size, format and required mods, then Start Map Editor. Climate, size and format cannot be changed inside the editor; make those choices before investing in detailed placement.
- Use the heightmap generator to set terrain options and seed, then Generate. Read the Keep Heightmap, Keep Assets, Keep Towns and Keep Industries choices before regenerating, so you do not unintentionally replace work you wanted to preserve.
- Use the town/industry generator or placement tools to establish useful demand and supply. Generate road connections and inspect the result: difficult terrain can prevent a proposed connection from being built.
- Open the pause menu and choose Save Map. Give the map a recognizable name. Go to the main menu, choose Load Game and select the stored map from the grid to begin play.
- For public sharing, the Map Editor card's details offer Share through Mod Hub. Confirm the title, description and public visibility before uploading. This is a deliberate upload, not a required step for playing your own local map.
How to tell it worked
The map is listed under its saved name and loads with the expected terrain, towns and industries. Once playing, you can create transport lines; a saved editor landscape alone is not a completed transport network.
If you are still stuck
No station, track or vehicle tools in the editor: the manual intentionally excludes those tools there. Load the stored map for play, or use the built-in Sandbox Mode when you want world editing during a game. Preview 40415 lists a Keep Heightmap fix; check your build before expecting that optional fix on stable.
