LINE MANAGER / DEPARTURE

Vehicle leaves before it is full?

Release manual and September 30, 2026 player report. Menu behavior is documented; the reported default wait time is specific to that player's save.

Check the stop's waiting limit as well as Full load

Open the line's loading stop in Line Manager. Select Full load, then inspect its separate maximum waiting time. If the limit expires, the vehicle can depart short of full. Set an unlimited wait only if supply can actually fill it; otherwise it may remain parked indefinitely.

Diagnose one loading stop

  1. Choose the right stop and direction. In Line Manager, select the line and the origin where this vehicle should load. A delivery stop's loading rule will not fix an empty pickup.
  2. Read both departure controls. Choose Full load (any) or Full load (all), then check the maximum waiting time separately. A release player report found a finite third wait setting caused early departures and solved that case by changing it to unlimited. Your current value may differ.
  3. Match the mode to compartments. The TF3 manual distinguishes “any” and “all” for multi-compartment trains and ships. “Any” can leave once one compartment is full; “all” waits for every compartment. For road vehicles the manual says these modes should behave the same. Do not assume switching a truck from any to all is a universal fix.
  4. Check what can load. Watch the vehicle's cargo and the producer's available stock. Confirm the vehicle accepts that cargo type, the origin can load it and the line has a usable destination. If no cargo is offered, see the pickup check before lengthening the wait.
  5. Watch one departure. Compare cargo against capacity and note whether it leaves because the chosen compartment condition is met, the time limit is reached or loading never starts.

How to tell it worked

At the selected origin, a vehicle loads to the intended condition before departing. A multi-compartment train or ship using “all” fills each configured compartment if the matching cargo is available. If you deliberately use a finite limit, a partial departure at that limit is expected.

If it still departs empty or waits forever

  • Leaves early with a finite limit: increase it or choose unlimited, then observe another cycle. Check the exact stop rather than a similar stop on the return.
  • Waits forever on “all”: one compartment may have no matching supply. Inspect configured cargo types and try “any” if leaving when one compartment fills fits the route.
  • No cargo loads at all: inspect origin stock, station/dock connection and vehicle compatibility; changing a timer cannot create cargo.
  • A truck still behaves differently between “any” and “all”: one Steam player reported this, while the official manual says road vehicles should behave the same. Record the save, vehicle, stop settings and build for support; the cause remains unverified.
