FREIGHT / LOADING THROUGHPUT

Trucks queueing to load?

Pre-release | Checked September 28, 2026. Announced TF3 rules; release build not playtested.

Improve the loading point before adding more trucks

Industry docks are the slowest pickup option. A separate station inside the industry catchment loads faster, and a sufficiently long truck station can load or unload several vehicles at once. If trucks already queue behind a vehicle that is filling, adding more trucks will not remove that loading bottleneck. Check the loading point, station length and cargo specialization first.

What to do

  1. Identify what the front truck is doing. Watch its load change. A truck that fills slowly points to loading throughput; one that never takes cargo needs the pickup checklist and cargo compatibility check. A truck unable to reach the bay has an access problem, not evidence of slow loading.
  2. Check whether the line uses the built-in dock. Urban Games describes the integrated industry dock as the quickest, cheapest start but the slowest loading choice. Build an added station within the industry catchment when growing traffic outstrips it, then make the line use that loading point.
  3. Check usable station length. The announced truck-station rule permits simultaneous loading or unloading when the station is long enough. Observe whether several trucks actually work at once after changing the layout. The developer does not give a universal bay length or truck-count formula.
  4. Match any specialist module to the cargo. A specialized platform handles its category faster, at extra cost, noise and pollution. Check the vehicle as well as the platform; a fast module for the wrong category is not an upgrade. Compare loading speed in the vehicle purchase menu instead of assuming the newest truck wins.
  5. Run the changed line and inspect the next bottleneck. Follow completed loads and the queue over several arrivals. If the loading queue clears but cargo then waits in a warehouse, use the transfer check. If loads arrive late, continue with the delivery-time check.

How to tell it worked

The line uses the intended loading point, compatible trucks take cargo, and the queue or waiting stock reduces while completed deliveries continue. Several trucks loading together is direct evidence that the longer-station layout is serving concurrent vehicles. Do not judge only by the number of vehicles bought.

If you are still stuck

  • Queue at the entrance: Observe the access road and turning movements before paying for cargo modules. A loading upgrade cannot unblock a road.
  • No stock at the industry: Check production and boosters; a faster dock cannot create supply.
  • Full trucks sit after unloading: This page does not establish a TF3 auto-unbunching bug or its switch. Older-series forum fixes are not verified for TF3.
  • Faster pickup harms city ratings: Compare the extra expense and environmental impact with the throughput you actually need.
