Decide whether it should exist yet
- Inspect a town's current goods demand. Early towns ask for simple goods such as fish, vegetables or planks. If the end product you want is absent from its demand, do not assume its factories are supposed to be on the starting map.
- Grow a town to unlock more needs. Complete passenger journeys and deliveries of goods it currently requires. If growth stalls, use the city XP and ratings check before waiting for an industry that depends on a later demand.
- Watch for the new product and its supply chain. When a larger town starts demanding a complex good, check the map for the industries required to make it. The developer says those facilities appear dynamically as demand arises; it has not stated a fixed spawn timer or player-selected position.
- Check the map's climate. Branches can differ. Urban Games' canned-food example uses tinplate plus meat, fish or both; an arid map has no fish farms, so that branch must use meat. Do not search indefinitely for a climate-excluded supplier.
- Choose sandbox only if you want manual control. Urban Games says sandbox can change starting town needs and industries. The exact release-build control path has not yet been verified.
How to tell the dependency is met
The town displays the new end-product demand and the necessary industry appears on the map. That is the useful checkpoint; a certain number of days passing is not a published trigger. Then build the route that supplies its inputs and delivers its output.
If it still is not there
- No new town demand: keep diagnosing growth. Completed trips and required-goods deliveries earn XP; weak city ratings can reduce its effect.
- The expected raw material is absent: check whether the climate uses another branch, as with meat instead of fish for canned food on arid maps.
- The town demands the product, but no supplier is visible: search the full map and confirm the game version. The developer has not specified exact spawn delay or placement, so do not apply a TF2 industry-density rule as a fix.
- The industry exists but makes too little: switch to the production and booster check; that is a different problem.
