Run one resource search
- Identify the missing raw material and the town you want to serve. Check the existing map first; a distant source and a resource absent from the map are different problems.
- Check your company progression for the resource-specific prospecting reward. If it is still locked, use the company-rank checklist; do not assume unlocking one resource makes every resource searchable.
- Select that available prospecting card in the resource-selection panel. Flowengineer’s release video shows the resource-selection panel followed by the prompt Select Town for Prospecting. Choose the resource you actually need, rather than a different card just because it is available.
- Click the intended town on the map. Check its municipality includes suitable terrain; for fish, choose an area with water. Read any displayed availability or waiting notice before attempting another search.
- Let the search finish and inspect the map for the new industry and its product. Then design a route from the actual discovered location to the receiver; do not build an assumed connection before knowing the result.

The prospecting demonstration starts at 20:15. The resource card leads to town selection; this is release footage, not our own playtest.

The search produces an industry for the selected resource within the chosen municipality. Open the industry to verify its product and connection needs. Starting a search or seeing a town-selection cursor alone does not confirm a successful discovery.
If the resource or search is unavailable
- No matching card: inspect the unlocked company rewards for that resource. The release demonstration does not establish one universal rank for every resource.
- Fish search fails: check water inside the selected municipality, not merely water elsewhere on the map.
- The tool cannot be used again yet: follow the availability message shown in your save. We have not verified a universal cooldown or a guaranteed success probability.
- You need a processing factory: first check town demand and industry availability. Raw-resource prospecting is different from unrestricted Sandbox placement.
- An industry appears but makes little cargo: use the inputs and production-booster checks; discovery does not supply its workers or required materials.
