GPU memory (VRAM) is separate from system RAM on a Windows/Linux PC. The Mac listing specifies Apple Silicon; an Intel Mac is not listed as supported. These are store requirements, not our hardware benchmark.
What to do
- Read the exact hardware names. On Windows, use Settings → System → About for CPU/RAM and Task Manager → Performance for GPU details. On Mac, use Apple menu → About This Mac. Record the actual chip rather than only “i5” or “MacBook”.
- Match your platform’s whole minimum column. Check OS, CPU and AVX2 where listed, memory, graphics capability and storage together. If your CPU or GPU is a different model, verify its specifications; this page does not rank every mobile or integrated chip.
- Check the installation drive. Use an SSD with at least the listed 90 GB available. A computer can have an SSD for the operating system while the selected game-install drive is a hard disk.
- Use the recommended column for planning, not an FPS guarantee. The store does not specify a measured frame-rate target, map size or population for these columns. A later, larger network can be a different workload from an empty starting map.
- If unsure, check the live listing and your hardware maker. Follow the Steam source below before a purchase or installation decision. Do not import TF2 minimum specs or treat an older preview’s “specs pending” statement as current.
How to tell it worked
Every applicable minimum requirement is accounted for, the chosen install drive is an SSD with enough free space, and no component is guessed from a generic product family name. After release, only a successful run on your actual machine can demonstrate its performance.
If you are still stuck
- An old CPU lacks AVX2: It does not meet the stated Windows/Linux CPU requirement; a graphics upgrade alone does not resolve that.
- You have an Intel Mac or a non-Pro M2: Neither is the stated Mac minimum. Compatibility for unlisted configurations is not established by this table.
- There is enough RAM but little VRAM: Check dedicated GPU memory separately; 8 GB of system RAM is not a replacement for the listed 4 GB VRAM.
- A supported machine still runs poorly: This page cannot provide a verified release-build performance fix before launch. Keep your hardware, game version and map workload with any bug report rather than assuming the requirements guarantee every setting.
