Get mods through the TF3 Mod Hub

Pre-release | Checked September 28, 2026. Announced TF3 rules; release build not playtested.

Open Mod Hub from the main menu and subscribe to the mod

Urban Games describes a main-menu Mod Hub where you browse, subscribe and automatically download mods and updates through mod.io. TF3 also detects and lists required mods during download. This guide covers obtaining the mod and its dependencies; release-build controls for activating it in a particular save have not been verified.

What to do

  1. Open the main-menu Mod Hub. Use the in-game browser described by the developer rather than importing an old TF2 installation-directory guide. Check that the listing is for Transport Fever 3 and suits your platform.
  2. Read the listing before subscribing. Check the creator’s description, supported version and dependencies. A feature mod and a decorative asset can require different supporting content; do not assume matching names make two mods interchangeable.
  3. Subscribe and allow the download to finish. The announced Mod Hub handles downloads and updates automatically. Compare the selected listing with the subscribed/downloaded information the browser provides; subscribing alone is not a claim that the mod is already active in every save.
  4. Review the required mods. TF3 uses unique mod IDs and detects missing dependencies during download. Follow the listed dependencies and check the download result. A matching title is not a substitute for the required mod ID.
  5. Check the actual game/save controls before playing. Use the release build’s available mod-management controls and the creator’s instructions to apply the download to your world. The cited announcement does not establish the exact save-enable menu or how every script mod behaves in an existing world. Keep a backup before testing changes to a valued save.

How to tell it worked

The intended TF3 mod and its required dependencies have downloaded. Then confirm the expected content in a suitable test world using the actual release controls. A subscription badge alone is not evidence that the content is enabled or compatible with an existing save.

If you are still stuck

  • A dependency is missing: Read the required mod ID and listing. Confirm it is available for your platform and that its own download completed.
  • You are looking for Steam Workshop: The July Highlights blog says the Workshop decision was still under consideration. A final launch announcement is needed before claiming either inclusion or permanent absence.
  • You want to install a local archive: The developer confirms manual installation remains possible for PC/Mac but does not give a final directory here. Do not reuse a TF2 folder as a confirmed TF3 path.
  • A downloaded mod breaks a world: Use the creator’s compatibility instructions and your backup. Do not assume disabling a mod reverses changes already stored in a save.
