CITY / REPUTATION AFTER CONSTRUCTION

Recover a town’s reputation

Pre-release | Checked September 29, 2026 (UTC). Announced systems, with an editorial check sequence; release build not playtested.

Limit new damage and allow recovery

The announced Reputation rating can suffer after deforestation or major earthworks. It recovers over time, and planting trees is one announced way to improve it. Check recent construction before trying to repair the score with unrelated cargo or passenger changes.

What to check and change

  1. Confirm Reputation is the low rating. Separate it from Noise, Pollution, Satisfaction and Delivery. Use the city rating checklist if several scores are poor; a slow-growing city does not automatically have a reputation problem.
  2. Review recent disruptive construction. Look for large earthworks or forest removal near the affected municipality, particularly new airport or corridor projects. The developer identifies those actions as reputation risks. Avoid inventing a tile radius or per-tree penalty.
  3. Avoid adding new disruption while testing recovery. Complete the necessary connection carefully and compare alternatives before further clearance. This is an editorial planning recommendation: repeatedly expanding the affected works makes it difficult to distinguish recovery from new damage.
  4. Consider planting trees. The announced system identifies planting as a way to improve reputation. Use the planting tools available in the actual build and review the budget before making a large change. The source does not provide a guaranteed number, planting radius or immediate reset.
  5. Observe Reputation over time. Compare the same town after a period without major new disruption. Recovery is announced to take time, so one frame or one tree is not an adequate test. If growth is still weak, revisit the other ratings rather than assuming the reputation repair failed.

How to tell it worked

The town’s Reputation improves over a comparable observation period while new disruption is limited. Track the rating separately from population and other environmental scores; an improvement in one does not prove that all city constraints are solved.

If you are still stuck

  • The score does not improve immediately: Do not assume planting is an instant reset. Check ongoing construction and observe over time; the published recovery duration is unspecified.
  • Pollution remains poor: Use the municipal environment checklist. Reputation recovery does not establish a pollution cure.
  • A planted area has no visible effect: Verify that you are observing the intended town and rating. The source does not establish a precise effective radius or guaranteed numeric bonus; keep those claims unverified.
